Newport Storm 2011
This is their special edition big beer, and a big one at 11.7%. please forgive me if I make a few typos...
I've not been impressed with Newport Storm of late. Their beers have been inconsistent and many of their larger offerings have been honestly quite bad.
This one comes corked at about 11 bucks a bottle. They said to lay it down for a few months but I was a bit impatient.
Overall it's pretty good. It has the structure of a good Belgian without perhaps the depth. It's a sweet beer with a lot of apricot up front. A bit of hop signature in the body with a very nice finish...this would be an excellent desert pairing with dinner.
Considering it's local I might just grab a few more to enjoy with friends.
