Congrats Schoolie. What kind of circle hook were you using? The offset ones will gut hook. Don't feel bad about that fish. As long as it isn't wasted, there is no need to feel bad.
You've inspired me to go out and use some eels tomorrow night. I'll be at the Reef at about 9:00. High tide is about just before 7 and sunset is at 8:30 so I figure I'll hit it a little late but better late than never! Once I run out of eels, I'll just switch over to large plugs.
