I would also look into renting instead of buying in the keys. Property taxes can be 4,000 a year or better, insurance 2500-5000 a year, most people need flood insurance and maintence cost. If you buy you are obligated to going to same place all the time.

You can rent for 2000-2500 a month, rent two or three months and give the key back. If any hurricane damage you can rent the place next door.
