got about 50 fish up to 25# last week, all on circles. Only three were gullet-hooked. If it makes any difference, they were all small as well. I didn't set the hook on any of them.
Finally, I was using chunks; the fish might hit the eels in a different way, so who knows.
I've been using circles for the last three years, and I don't think I would go back to regular bait hooks, but like I said before, I don't use the snakes very much.
