Never tried it but probably will be fine. I get two gallons and give a nice thick coat on the bottom. Whatever's left I just keep porkin it on the waterline. That's where it will wear off from line, scrubbing etc.. I use the cheap crap from Hamilton and just walk around the dock with a scrub brush a couple times a month to get any growth off.
The planing surface stays clean it's where the sun hits that will grow a beard. I don't fuss about it too much it usually isn't sitting still for long enough to get a lot of growth.
