Iron Mike - I've fished with the guy probablly 50 times this year if not more....it's usually a few guys that gang up for the night and hammer the surf.....Mike usually starts off with an ice cold BUD and a story of how he worked for 35 minutes today and then did 6 laps around 10 mile drive, had lunch and went home.....a few more cold BUD's and then he might start fishing. Meanwhile the rest of the gang is fishing, maybe catching......Sometimes I think Mike would rather just hang out and enjoy being with the guys than catch a fish....Mike will eventually muster up the energy to make a few casts......
This time Mike leaves the house at 7:30pm - ALONE ( just like all the other times he stuck a cow).....heads out for a few casts alone to "Destination X".....from his house to "Destination X"....figure 20 minutes......8:30pm He's on.....back home at 9:15pm.....
He had to leave an 18lb bass he was going to bring home for supper on the rocks.....he said he just couldnt carry it back with the other fish.
Mike weighed the fish the next morning. 60.2lbs caught on a 9inch blue and white HABS Needlefish.
I have picked Mike's pickeled brain hundreds and hundreds of time on how he does it......the only thing he can tell me is "I would rather be lucky than good".
This makes three years in a row Mike has made his mark. Two 50's and a 60.
Congrats to my good friend Iron Mike, the guy who somehow managed to shove a lucky horseshoe where the sun don't shine!
As much as I love the guy, and as close as Mike and I are as friends, there is NO ONE in this world that I would like to strangle to death than him right now!!!!!! I just don't know how he does it.
I'm off the find some leather gloves and a ski mask.
