Boston Harbor is pretty easy boating overall. Be careful around "Lower Middle" between the airport and Spectacle Island. Look for the 1, 3, and 5 green cans. Stay away at low tide.
Also, be careful by Castle Island. There's a line of rocks that extend out towards the #5 day marker. Once again only a real concern at low water.
There is good flounder fishing on Governors Flats (by the airport) and around Hospital Shoals.
You'll also find bass (and later bluefish) on the surface by the airport and in front of Castle Island. This is usually early in the morning and at dusk.
