The story on it's own isn't that telling, but what is important is how it will be used to "frame" Romney's character.

Certainly there's an effort to paint Romney as so elite he's really out of touch with everything, even the feelings of others. The dog story reinforces the frame, this story reinforces the frame. His 10,000 bet reinforces the frame...there's a lot of example.

His reaction to the question wasn't really very human. Basically he said I don't remember, I didn't even know he was gay, excuse, excuse....

What he should have done as a LEADER was turn the question into a teaching moment about bullying and how it impacts everyone. This would have made it seem like he had a clue.
