We all have a sweet spot. You know it's that point where the line hangin off the tip of the rod helps the weight of the plug load the rod the best to our power stroke.It may be 30 in,36in or longer. size or weight of plug makes a difference as to how long it is on each rod we use 9 ft to 11 or longer.Add to this the right power stroke an your distance climbs from there. But remember 30lb braid gets longer distance than 65 lb braid. Your spool needs to be properly filled.Plus not all plugs are made to cast distance. My 3 1/2 oz pencil is a finesse plug like a P-40, my 2.6 oz pencil flies like a rocket. So not all plugs are made to fish the middle of the ditch.So that's another variable to keep in mind.So remeber the rod is just part of a big puzzle. Tight lines Ron
