The first time I walked out to the area of and beyond the bass stand yout referring to on the "death march" was during the derby in 1973. More of the steel was still there at the time. Walking by it then I didn't truly grasp or understand the nature of the stand and who might have used it. As someone else posted a picture from Bob Post's book, it would probably be helpful reading his book to get a better idea about the stand itself.
