I have a 10" & 36". the 10" works great for all normal size plugs. When spinning a large maple plug w/10" you will get a little vibrationfrom the dupe. Not a problem with outcome. With the longer version as mentioned before altering the tailstock to place inside mounting brackets to do short pieces is the trick. On my jet the lever removes with the snap ring and slides out of cam. easy & quick. Example of using the bigger dupe & lathe, I have to make a bunch of Belaying pins out of extremely hard Brazillian wood 10" long. I have the dupe set up for baseball bats and wish not to disturb the set up. Tailstock r&r was the best way. If the lathe you have will cut 24", go with the bigger one.
