Fishing Superstitions

I've been meaning to make this thread for awhile and here it is!

Fisherman all have their "lucky" things or rituals, it can be crazy, a tradition, or, to anyone else, just plain stupid. But for us, if it works, the naysayers get skunked and we get fish from the sea and a smile.

This is all for fun!

For me, all the times that I have fished, if I wore a shirt that had a fish picture on it or anything to do with fishing, I got skunked. If I wore a hat, I got skunked. No hat, no fish apparel, I scored time and time again.

So my superstition is that I never wear anything "fishy" and I don't pay attention to my retrieval too much or else it leads to skunks. Also when I am gearing up and hear the bizarre sound of the wind blowing through the guides, it always meant it was a slow day/night. That always creeped me out.

I'll share another: my math teacher in middle school and high school was a big fisherman (actually appeared on the cover of The Fisherman once), he always had a goatee because whenever he had it as opposed to a beard or any other facial hair style, he always nailed big fish. Never saw the man without a goatee during fishing season.

My Godfather always kept the hook that landed his biggest bass of his life on his boat to remind him of the event, but also to bring him good luck. And I swear he was born with a horseshoe up his @$$

So how bout it guys? What is your voodoo?
