Neither the skeg or the "thingy" will cause vibration.
It's either the prop or the prop shaft.
You won't be able to notice vibration in the backyard or a bent shaft by hand. (unless its REALLY bent!)

Once your in the water and the prop is under load and pushing, then see.

What did you replace after you hit the rock?
