An interesting observation pre-Sandy

I went out to beavertail the day before sandy's big surf hit us. The surf was growing when I was there and it was nice to look at, but what really amazed me was the billions of tiny insects that were migrating up the rocks away from the surf. Little sand fleas, little spiders. Billions of them coming in waves upon waves moving away from the growing surf. I think they all must have known that a large storm was coming. Of the hundereds of people there, I don't think anyone noticed that was going on right in front of them because they were all fixated on the surf.
