If you want a cheap way to do slugs for weights, take two pieces of scrap 2 x 4 and clamp them together. Put them on the drill press and drill exactly in the center of the two pieces with the same diameter bit as you want the weight to be. Next, find the center of the hole and drill a hole the size of your thru-wire to meet this hole. When you go to pour the lead, place a section of wire in the hole (hit it with a shot of WD-40) and clamp the wood together. Pour the lead, then pull out the wire. You now have a slug that will slide onto your thru-wire. Once you start getting a good deal of flash around the weight, drill another hole and start again. You'll do the Do-It! mold the same way.
