4x8 is a big countertop to try and find.

you may consider a sheet of duraclad/melamine

the depot or lowes have 4x8 sheets of white melamine 3/4" thick right on the rack for not much more than I pay from a wholesaler.

that would do the same thing, it is basically low pressure laminate as opposed to high pressure laminate.
wax it up good though and maybe finish off the edges with something.


I just got an email today from a supplier that has laminate pretty cheap a buck a sq ft plus tax and shipping, but it would cost about twice than the melamine for a 5x12
