Sweetieface your reply actually helped me to solve, I think, this riddle. The key was "peed his pants", in other words scared the man. By scaring him it cured his hiccups which he was going to try and get rid of by drinking the water.
I have a 13 year old who comes home from school all the time with these stumpers.
