The benefits of camping/fishing in the Everglades is that you can reach areas that they day-boaters have a tough time getting to because it takes so long from the ramps at Flamingo and Chokoloskee ... and you can extend your fishing hours tremendously ... we typically camped on sites up inside on the ground rather than the chickees, although we always had to hang our food from the trees do to racoons, rats, etc. Love winter camping in the Everglades ... lots of fun.
