making a gaff

Finaly got around to making a custom gaff. Its is alot easyer to spend the twenty bucks on a nice gaff but to me there's something special about having something you made. Almost like custom rods the lengths of the grips and where you want them to be placed is all up to you, just like anything else the more time you spend and the more thought out your design the better end result.

This is what you'll need to make you basic gaff:

1...1"x4' hard wood dowel
2...2' peice of poly rope
3...two part apoxy
4...9/16 U nails
5...3' cork tape
6...the hook
7...string 1/16
8...butt cap

Before cuting the dowel to the desired length, cut a gap so that your hook fits snug. I do this by starting with a jig saw..then a mider saw and a drill.
