They don't glide much........they veer instead.
They need plenty of rod tip action.
I've had success with very fast and very slow retrieves.
At speed they go subsurface and the good ones develop a little vibratory action.
At moderate speeds (and various weighting schemes) they work subsurface like a slow darter.
At slow speed (and again various weighting schemes) they can be worked on top with a lot of tail thrashing.

These are fun and challenging plugs to fish.....exactly because it is up to you to create the action. They are not, however, anything magical. Indeed, nowadays you'll very likely catch more fish throwing a Sebile Stick Shad or Magic Swimmer (which didn't exist obviously when Frech invented this plug) than these things.
