Hi Niko - I might not know crap about fishing but I know a little bit about baseball.

If you buy a new glove at #^&#^&#^&#^&s they have a machine/oven they will put it in to and it is supposed to break it in. People say it works pretty good although I always use shaving cream, the lanolin softens the the leather. I prefer the lesser priced gloves in Wilson's "A#" series glove. Wilson makes the A2000 which is $300 and is coveted by most big league players but the technology is past down to the A800 which you can get for less than $50.

DO NOT go too big on the glove size, I see too many parents do this and it is too heavy for the kid. Especially if he is pitching, you don't want the glove throwing him off balance. If he plays infield you want a smaller glove also to get it out fast, some major league baseball infielder's wear gloves that barely cover their hands.

As for bats I will not pay over $50 for a bat, I buy mostly on craigs list. I see some of these kids using $300 bats and I think it is stupid but hey, its their money.

Like Ted Williams used to say "It's not the arrow, it's the Indian".
