Plum Island ( Mass) 9/9 - 9/11

I made it out 3 nights this week, fishing was good, especially if you like small stuff.

Monday, I stayed in the river, fished eels until the top of the tide and found fish where they have been all summer, most were in the 3- 5lb range, I did get 2 fish in the mid 20 lb class, Tuesday was rinse and repeat, lots of little guy's 2 fish in the Mid 20's.. there were quite a few pogies milling around at the top of the tide both nights, hence my reason to try and stick and stay and ( try to) make it pay..

Wednesday night, I took a boat ride ( 27 miles round trip), with the refuge now open, the surf commandos had taken residence on my hot spot from earlier this season so I took a ride to the south..
except for the 2 lonely surf guy's wading and casting, I had a 6 mile stretch of beach to myself, that was the problem,i had it mostly to myself, with only my eels for company, there were very few fish there, just a few lost students and a lone blue fish.. lots of bait, small schools of pogeis right tight to the bars, nothing with them, sand eels were in the mix and the micro brigade was driving them in the surf.. I got a few fish but nothing to be proud of.. it was a great night to be on the water, light winds, cool temps but I was able to still fish in a Tee shirt.. I even fished an hour of the drop, with no reward... I went to bed a little after 2.. 6 AM came quickly..

A good run is better than a bad stand!
