A doctor has to prescribe off label medicine. Generally, it would be your primary physician who would know of any contraindications. A doctor probably wouldn't prescribe it if the patient would likely be killed by the scrip. Unless, of course, the patient is about to die anyway, in which case if the patient agreed they could give it a try. Those without serious underlying heart conditions should not suffer life threatening reactions from hydroxychloroquine .
