Anyone ever try Marine Tex?
Years ago, I blew a head gasket on an old Johnson I had. When I took the head off I noticed that the head was gouged and the cylinder had a crevasse in it that went into the cylinder I'd say about an inch or two. It was in far enough where the piston ring rides. The motor was junk the way it was and I couldn't afford another one so I figured I'd try to repair it with Marine tex. I gooped the stuff on, sanded it smooth, reassembled the motor with a new head gasket and ran it another two years with no problems. I sold the motor and the next guy ran it at least a few more years untill the motor finally developed a lower end noise, which had nothing to do with my repair.
Since then, I've repaired several automotive cylinder heads with the stuff.
