Problem is that the area AROUND the letters had faded and the area UNDER the letters is pristine. You would need to get aggressive compounding/wetsanding the entire transom to get it to match the virgin area you just exposed.
1. Easier said than done.
2. IMO, not worth the effort.
3. I don't really have a #3.
