I have seen alot of pretty great shows.....I enjoy watching anyone who can play a guitar so my focus has always been on the best pickers on the planet! (Or at least the ones I enjoyed the most) I have seen Clapton about 10 times, Robert Cray 6 times, BB King 5 times, Buddy Guy, Pink Floyd, Kenny Wayne Shepard, AC/DC 2 times, Van Halen, Fleetwood Mac (Lindsay B#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&gham gets an honorable mention), #^&#^&#^&#^&ey Betts, Jeff Beck, Mark Knopfler......crap I can't remember them all.......but the best show I have ever seen live......was Stevie Ray Vaughan any one of the 8 times I saw him live! The first time I ever saw him was at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium back about 1986-87?? I had 8th row floor seats! The bottom of my jaw had floor rash by the end of that show I was just so freakin' blown away buy the quality of his play and the incredible energy he exuded simply by playing his guitar....no jumping around or anything.....he just played like he was on an entirely different plane than anyone I have ever seen! Best of all was he sounded as good if not better live than on his albums! His one well played note was as good as anyone elses 1000 notes.......just awesome! Also of note was the last time I saw him play with Jeff Beck!!! Amazing show.....from both of them....but when they teamed up on "Going Down"......if you have never heard the recording of them doing this song treat yourself.....it was just mind blowing!! I still get chills down my spine when I hear this track!
My honorable mention is John Hiatt......one of the top shows I have ever seen......just a true showman, incredibly entertaining and had the crowd in the palm of his hand! One of the greatest songwriters ever and a very gifted guitar player!
