(1) if you previously thought that the federal government can ever be all things to 300 million people spread across a continent, I assume you were in a coma during hurricane Katrina.
(2) the feds aren't doing "nothing". The CDC is helping with testing research, the army corps of engineers is building a massive number of hospital beds, two massive navy hospital ships have been deployed, the feds have enacted policy which allows them to direct private companies to help.
3M has been selling masks to foreign countries instead of selling them to states desperate to buy them. I hope we all remember that when this is over.
