Many states (a third) adopt CA emissions standards, usually, though not right off the bat. It costs extra and some states (IIRC) require manufacturers to not charge extra for it (which means that cost is passed to everyone)

I am OK with CA doing CA emmisions standards, but not require others subsidize it.

But keep it up and California will be porked once the Balkanization of the US happens.
