The interesting thing about that list was that they ignored any players with a country influence. To make any list of rock guitarists and not have James Burton would be a glaring omission.
I do not see why Slash along with a few of the sherders made the list though I agree with RIJimmy that you have to have EVH high on the list because he really revitalized rock guitar and may be, depending on your age, as influential as Clapton and Hendrix.
