I turn it off because of potential SPAM issues. If an automated bot logs in (can happen) it can send out a bunch of spam porn to people (though some might enojy he p0rn).
One easy way is when sending a new PM, in the Recipient Username's box, start typing the name and a box will popup with names starting with what you type.
I may tun it back on at some point but after the next software upgrade AND I'm confident people won't get spammed.
