Border crossings had considerably gone down. The asylum process was made more manageable. Cooperation with the Central American leaders was helping.

a screw-up that the Biden administration is trying to undo.

Biden has reverted to the status of the decades-long problem--in spades. The decades-long welcome mat with implied invitations are back.

The problem begins in Latin and South America where governments and infrastructure are failing, problems exacerbated in some cases by actions of our own government and private companies.

The problem begins with the failure of Central America's governments and their people to solve their own problem. And depending on or falling prey to other countries to be their saviors gives them no status as sovereign independent nations.

We are told that we are not supposed to nation build, and foreign aid just props up failing or corrupt administrations. If the citizens of a nation cannot sustain that nation, it has no foundation on which to exist, and becomes the puppet of foreign manipulation and internal bandits of all types including corrupt political leaders.

El Salvador, if its President is right, has done a lot to boost its own economy and security. Emigration has considerably gone down there. It's keeping more of its people who are needed to make it work as an actual sovereign nation supported by loyal citizens.

In a White House briefing last week, Roberta Jacobson, a former U.S. ambassador to Mexico who is now the Biden administration’s coordinator for the southern border, announced that “the border is not open”—

Numbers don't back up that typical political gaslighting rhetoric.

but stressed that the administration will work with civil-society groups and nonprofit organizations to try and help those in distressed countries because some governments cannot be trusted. That’s a step in the right direction. Some governments south of the border are too corrupt to deal with directly. Any money sent their way will, as has happened in the past, simply disappear.

Is this more interfering with foreign governments? That's supposed to be a no-no. Unnamed "civil-society groups" and "nonprofit organizations" most of which have their own political agendas, left or right, could cause as much problems as those they supposedly propose to help solve. And I'm sure the corrupt governments will be very happy with the "help," and will make sure that it is applied to the right people and right pockets. Yeah . . . that's a real plan . . . not just political smoke . . .

Anyone who thinks building a wall will solve this problem never saw a ladder.
A magical ladder for 3 thousand unaccompanied children as well as hundreds of thousands, millions, to climb up and down one at a time. A 30 foot wall with barbs at the top and that has cameras and sensors and sends signals to border patrol. A wall that is merely PART of an overall strategy.

Border crossings were considerably down. Agreements with Mexico and others were made. The decades-long mess was under far greater control. But now, the mess is back.

But not to worry--"civil-society groups" and "nonprofit organizations" are gonna fix it.
