It's partly PC, but even more so in regards to race. It has become nearly a taboo (if taboo is a PC acceptable word re the picture in dispute) against criticism of blacks and used especially to fend off attacks on Obama's policies. The automatic response to any criticism of those policies or any questioning of his intentions is first to label them as racism. And if upon analysis there is no actual evidence of racism, still, it just must be so in the eyes of his defenders because he is black, and, apparently, whites are inherently racists and they simply cannot only not suppress their racism even in policies which transcend race, they don't even realize they're acting racist, don't realize down deep that they are racists.

At least, that is what we are made to believe. Which very conveniently allows Obama to escape far more "media" criticism than he gets. It seems to allow him to be, at most, innocently ignorant of bad stuff happening throughout his administration. Other, less competent underlings are responsible. He rises above it all, even fighting against the bad stuff, and comes out to be a hero.
