Steve did attend get togethers, one I remember was a reel maintenance gathering at my shop one winter. Big Dave was there, John and many others. Steve helped me with a Baitrunner and I learned a bit about them. He said his knees were worn out from stocking shelves when younger, made it tough on surfcasting but sand was better for him. He did make it out onto Pips once with me. He could jig.
