Its important people know that gut shot are NOT what us sportsman strive for, yes it happens and with experience you'll recover more deer. Give the animal its dignity and hit it in the vitals, shot placement is everything.

The scares behind the bucks shoulder are common they are often caused from the deers own rack when feeding. If you strech his neck they might line up, usualy found in older deer. If not you need to spend more time in the area for Bull Winkle(like habs would say)
