Lami GLB 108 1MH

any one build on this rod? how does it compare to a 1088 P/B or A/S? having a tough time locating it online. i know one shop that has it in stock, but i wanted to get a little feedback before i drive the 1.5 hours to get it. thanks.

Hi done and have both. The Lami is a little lighter wieght wise but the 1088 is a great blank. Did GLB1081m back in eighties as spinning and still use.I have done 1088 as a conventional and spinning and have done the 1088f(2 piece) as well.I had heard nothing good about the pac-bay blanks but talked to owner of CMS who said they were fine.I bought first one and wrapped it as conventional and loved it.It casts very well as either conventional or spinning and costs less.

i have a 1088 i wrapped as a spinner and one as a conv. i want something in the 9' range with a little more balls than a 1088, but with a softer action than stepping up to a 1089.

ya the 1089 is a LOT stiffer than the 1088.I caught a lot of fish with the GLB 108 1m and it is a little softer action but still has decent feel. GLB108 1L is way soft but a lot of people like it.I also did a gsb1201L and think it feels like a noodle compared to a lot of the other 10 ft graphite rods I have.I dont think the GLB108-1m really is much different than the 1088 even though it is rated for 6 oz I dont think I would want to throw that much with it.I*m not saying you couldnt just I wouldnt want to.I think its better under 4 oz but just My opion.Other then trying one to see if you like it its just a shot in the dark with anything

i really like the feel of the 1088 for most of what i throw when i use a 9' rod (spring run on the CT river). the biggest i will toss with it is a 3.5 ounce pencil popper. i broke 2 1088's this past spring doing this, though, which is why i i am looking for something with a little more power to it. if i could get a blank that is a 9' version of the 120 1M, i would have the perfect rod. maybe i'll have to cut down one of those....

An Allstar 1088 is beefier than most other 1088's. You might want to look at it.

toby, you won't find what you are looking for in any of the faster action blanks, such as all star or rs. think lami's.

Take a Lami GSB 120 1L and chop 12" from the butt---what you'll wind up with may be just what you're looking for.
