textured grips

I'ld like to try this type of grip, these are the same you'ld find on Loomis or Breakaway rods. They look to be shrink tube type. Looked around, nada.....can they be purchased?

Goose,
If havent tried the stuff but if its what you are talking about Mike may have it. Its almost like a Non skid tape right?
I think it has its place, only draw back I could see is its non skidness grabbing clothes etc. Would also think it for bigger sticks but anything is possible.

It is non-skid 1" tape, not heat shrink. It can be found at Home Depot or West Marine. Sometimes they only stock grey and you may have to search to find black. Some rod makers stock it, but it doesn't seem to be a common item. I have used it as an overwrap to protect the cork tape (as does Loomis) and haven't found any downside to using it other than cost and extra time to apply it. It stands up well and should protect the cork tape underneath it. I use my rods in the boat a lot and they end up in rod holders which wear down cork tape. This stuff stands up well in the rod holders. I haven't had it stick to my clothing yet.

I have some of this in 2 inch black I believe. Some was like plastic and other is almost like emory cloth. Used to use it to wrap wrungs of ladders and steps on printing press to keep feet from slipping off.I dont know how it would be to wrap on butt in two inch width. It was called safety tape.Have seen the shrink wrap grips but didnt pay attention to weather or not it had rough surface. There is a bunch of this shrink wrap in different colors on ebay

grip material

summer moon rod works sells it in black and grey for .85 cents a foot. I use it and quick grip to finish off ends. Great stuff, half the thickness of cork tape. Called urethane rod grip.
