The snook, redfish, and trout should all be inside the bays and sounds--or even further up in the back country. To these fish the water is still too cold to venture out onto the beach front.

Just outside of Tampa, over that really long bridge, there's a big fishing pier. If you fish off of it you don't have to buy a Florida license, though you may have to buy bridge time. The pier is lighted and you can drive your car right out onto it.
Could have a decent shot at some pompano, jacks, ladyfish, sheepshead, or maybe that rolling resident tarpon. These fishing piers are very intertaning for us Yankees. I recommend that you give it a try.
2/0 hooks, some egg sinkers, a handful of light jig heads with some small rubber bodies and you should be all set. The guy who works the booth at the head of the pier, sells rigs, bait, and can give you all the info that you may need.
Good luck.

I am almost certain that this pier is open at night, most of the public fishing piers in Florida are--that is when many of the fish bite best.

goose and fishin,

Thanks for the heads up. I'll try to get away from work long enough to give it a try. I have to.
