Avet reels

anybody know anything about these reels. Where you can get them? Anyone have any experience with any of them. I just recently heard about them and people are saying that they are really nice reels. I haven't seen them in any local shops though.

mikecc @ M&D's in Wareham carries some of the Avets.

I played around with them at the RISSA show - nice machined reels made in USA (CA). Use the search feature above in the menu and can read what folks have said about them.

My next conventional will most likely be an Avet. I've tried almost every other brand.

I just bought a blue avet sx from Mike cc and I love it i use it on my patriot 10 footer [you need at least a ten footer to prevent backlashs and bird's nests] superior casting after a little getting use to it's awesome the only draw back is the casting control controls the drag tension too but after yiu get used to using your thumb as a casting brake this reel kicks butt.

Two Changes and It's Legal

I picked up the little one and loaded it with braid for a deep water fluke rod. I have heard some good things from some an offshore guy on the larger reels but this little thing looked just right for my application so I figured I'd start there.

They feel good and the drag is rugged but smooth. If this reel works out I may put them on a bass rod next seaon. The price is reasonable that is for sure.
If my boat was running I would have used it already ...until then my surf stuff continues to get a heavy work out.

I have an MX that I bought for drifting live bait, finally got to use it this weekend. Unfortunately I only jigged up macks with it - no hits on the live macks...

The adjustable drag makes casting easy in that you can control the spin/ decrease backlash. Of course you won't be throwing very far until you get the hang of it & can back it off.
