green meanie

There is a big difference between foul weather gear made for sailing or pleasure boating and gear designed to be worn by fisherman. If you are fishing, stay away from sailing gear.

If you get fish blood, scales, etc on sailing foul weather gear it will forever hold that stain or mark. They are not designed for fishing.

Get a set of Grunden's from Cape Fisherman's Supply in Chatham or Sandwich Ship Supply in Sandwich near the Canal. They cost about $125 for the Herkules bid style overall pants and rain coat and they will not let you down and last you for years.

I bought a very nice set of foul weather gear when I was a kid working as a charter boat mate and ruined them by Memorial Day! Buy gear designed for your use!!!

The Henri Lloyd gear is absolutely great for fishing. The jacket I got is super lightweight has plenty of water proof pockets. It allows for complete freedom of movement and has nothing to get in the way and interfere with casting. And of course its 100% waterproof.

As far as stains go mine doesn't have any or seam to hold any and even if it did who cares I use it for fishing and working. It ain't a fashion show out there.

Just because my particular jacket is an Oracle Crew Member jacket doesn't mean it also isn't good for fishing.America's Cup racing can hardly be considered pleasure boating.Henri Lloyd Advanced Marine Technology foul weather gear is designed for the harshest of conditions and yet still be lightweight and allow freedom of movement.

Not that I'm saying Grunden doesn't make great rain gear because they do...but they just aren't on the same level as the Henri Lloyd or Aquaskinz gear.

Green,by all means check out the Lloyd or Aquaskinz gear if you have the cash.

Cool

Funny you should mention that.

I have a friend who went out chunking in a boat with us a while ago. He was wearing some very nice (Gore-Tex) Helly Hansen foul weather gear (more suited to sailing, methinks) and he just ruined it with a few smears of bunker/pogy chunk (the stain wouldn't come out). His wife was very upset as it was a gift from her.

Best to get something designed for fishing - Aquaskinz are great but if they're too much then a nice backup would be a Grunden's oil skin.
