G. Loomis ?
Thinking about buying the 10'6" G Loomis surf rod. Any bad stories about this rod ? I really like the look and feel of it but I think the reel seat looks cheesy (especially for such a high dollar stick).
I don't throw eels, just plugs, needles and metal.

I have a custom made Loomis 1266/2. I really like it. Its probably made on the same blank as the factory rod you mentionedc. I don't know the cost of the factory rod but you may want to look into a custom built on the same blank. That way you can get Fuji Guides and a Fuji graphite reel seat. Sometimes the customs are about the same price as the factory rods.

do you know the model # of this rod?
I own a 1265 C Surf Series Med-Heavy Fast action.4.0-8.0 oz.
Bought four seasons ago no problems w/ it,primary rod for the Canal.
Handle isn't cheesy & it has fuji reel seats.

It's a 1266/2. The reel seat looks plastic, is it graphite?

I owned one of those rods several years ago. At that time, G Loomis was building them with Pac Bay guides and reel seats. Essentially, I paid good money for a good blank, but with lousy components. Also, it wasn't splined properly and therefore the upper part would constantly twist. You can probably have a similar rod built at a competitive price.

Dude yur a Nut Gotta love it!
Ok. First I was wrong about my model number it's a 1267 C.
I'll type the rest out just incase the PIC quality isn't up to snuff.
heres the rest of the specs, Surf Series 1267 C 10'6" Heavey Fast Action 20-40# line weight 4.0-.08 Oz.
It has been very reliable for me.
