Whats with trawlers??

Whats with the dam trawlers?? Everyspot I hit today had trawlers, started out near Gurnet point and there were 2 trawlers working in close to shore, then I head out past the bank to the East and this trawler passes by no more than 10' and pulls net turns and makes another pass I look up 1/2 hour later this guy is crossing my bow under 10' so I get POed and head to the H buoy and theres more trawlers over there in close to shore again I stopped and talked with a fellow Hydra Sports owner and he was BS about the trawlers seems they bullied him earlier too. I think the trawlers should be made to stay x amount of miles offshore, I mean give me a break a 100' boat in 45' of water dragging 1.5 miles offshore Ok rants over was a nice day out there today even without the sun I just wish I had gotten into more fish.

Cheferson how about a law that states they can and will be punished for bullying recreational fisherman?? By no means did I seek out any trawlers to fish near as a matter of fact every time I set up there wasn't one within 5 miles of me but sure enough they showed up and within beer bottle distance too!!

even though they can be jerks, the rules are on the side of the trawlers.they have the right of way.even over the lowly snailboats.
i had one cut my anchor line once when i set up on the n/w corner of the bank.
we were 20 miles offshore pre-dawn, not a boat in sight, and an 1/2 hour later this herring trawler cut right accross my bow severing 300' of anchor line.blaintantly obvious to everyone on board!
his comments to me were "now why would i do that on purpose and risk damaging my net" after i was screaming at him on ch 16 for everyone to hear the name on his boat{coasties were yelling at me to get off 16} he admitted that we should have seen him working the area.
then i scan the vhf and hear him brag to his buddy, how we should have known better than to set up on the "hot spot" geeeee we were the first ones there in the morning for a reason!!!!!
he still wouldn't MAN up and offer to replace the anchor setup.
black trawler RAZZO out of glouster, i'll never forget
mike

Thats a bummer FF, I didn't lose any gear and I am a little ticked. Maybe the 11-87 needs to find a home on the boat somewhere A few rounds across there bow should get there attention

ahhhhh the RAZZO strikes again. THAT guy is a first class RICHARD. I had a run in with him about 2 years ago....in the middle of Stellwagon he damn near ran me over while I was drifting on cod.....
NO-ONE in the wheelhouse!

I did the same on ch16 and let him know what I had to say about him. I darn near chased him down just for the pleasure of flippin him off in person.
