Went out with a bang!
Done for the year! This past week we banged the fish, up to 40 pounds on Friday, 11 fish for three of us. Saturday 4 fish for two of us. Tuesday, four fish for two of us. No fish under 20 pounds on all three trips to the SW corner of Block. Winterized the boat yesterday, she gets pulled tomorrow. Not the best year ever, but we did finish up with a bang!

That is impressive for this time of year. Were there many others out there? How were the conditions?

Always a few other boats around, but never more than five or six. Conditions were very nice, no wind to speak of, relatively warm less than 1 foot seas most days. I skipped Sunday becasue of the rainy/cold/windy weather. All of the fish came on eels.

Vic,
You had you chance to get in on it! The day you couldn't make it we only had four fish for the three of us. All four were about 25 pounds each.

That is some good fishing Mike. A few years ago we had a good run of fish at the sub buoy, lasted well into December.

Goose,
I patrolled around the sub bouy the Friday before thanksgiving, looking for sea bass in the deep water. No sea bass, but did mark some big fish. Only problem is that its illegal to fish for stripers at the sub bouy, so I stayed inside the three mile line off the SW corner when we went striper fishing.

I knew that captain was up to no good, all he told me to do was keep a bend in the pole and crank like hell.

I thought it was just illeagal to possess stripers outside 3mi... so you could still C&R them outside 3mi?? maybe I'm mistaken....

Rockhound,
It is illegal to fish for stripers in federal waters, i.e. no C&R allowed.
