Dead PC
Help!
Yesturday my pc froze on me so I rebooted, now all I have is a black screen. HD and power lights come on, but just black monitor. I tried another monitor and cables and also another video card and hard drive. Looks like I have a bad MB, RAM of CPU. Any ideas how I can determine which it is? Thanks.

Yank everything out except the Video card and 1 memory stick. Then Power it back on. If you get something on your screen start putting back 1 this at a time until it fails. If it doesn't come up put in a different stick of memory, if it still doesn't come up you've narrowed it down to your motherboard/processor or Video card

Usually if the CPU has fried, there'd be some beeps. Wonder if maybe your MB is toasted?

That MB compatible with the CPU you currently have?
And Ram seems expensive, are you a high-end user?

Hopefully in your case, it's not the CPU that's fried, since you mention you OC your PC. But that's a good start. And OCing shortens the life of a CPU and components, but I'm sure you already know that if you know how to OC.
And the RAM's fine, just a matter of preference.
Good luck!

I tried the cpu in another pc and it's good. I don't oc too much for too long. I may upgrade to 800 FSB cpu while I'm at it.
