Fly fishing is for sissies..... unless you catch fish, then it is alright! You get a pass this time Bob! Good for you....I have seen fish and had my plugs hit but none landed yet...no fishy hands. Maybe Thursday.
Of course, the pinnacle of flyfishing for stripers next to catching a keeper is catching a fish on a fly that you tied yourself!
Don't get me wrong, I have many "purchased" flies in my box, but I also have many of my own creations as well. My current favorite is a clouser imitation consisting of crystal flash over flashabou (both pearl colored) for a herring/silverside effect.
Keep up the good work, and good luck for a keeper!
Was on the Cape, north side, and caught my first fish on a friends fly rod. 27 ". I have to admit it was a real thrill . Nice to catch something that had a chance to get away and you could not just muscle in. Maybe I might have to invest in a cheap flyrod to have on the boat. Paul
