It's Official - Tourney Results!!!
First I want to thank everyone that participated in the Striped-Bass.com Tourneys and made it the blast that it was. We managed to have a fun tourney which focused on C&R and the honor system - both tough to achieve sometimes but not a problem from any of you. Big round of appluase to all of you that participated...
I also want to thank those that donated to the tourney: Mike Thomas from M&D Bait and Tackle aka: http://capecodtackle.com; Don & Charlie from Weekapaug B&T - http://weekapaug.com ; and The Habster for donating an assortment of plugs. A special thanks to Saltheart for helping me organize & run the tourney (and for prodding me to get things done ) as well as building the "Ditch Stick" - thanks Mike...
Final Tourney Results/Prizes for Year Long and 4 Leg:
4 Leg:
1) Redcrbbr - 1 1088 Custom Sabre Conventional Rod matched with an Abu CT or CS Mag or 1 1088 Custom Sabre Spinner matched with an Shimano Stratic 5000 or 6000 donated by Mike Thomas from CapeCodTackle.Com // M&Ds, Wareham - Crabbr - which one did you choose??
2) Fishpart - 1 Choice of Batson/Sabre 1088/89/965/Loomis SUR965/St Croix SCIII (depending on availability) in Conventional or Spinning donated by yours truly * (Fispart, we should talk soon on this...)
3) Canalratt1 - 10 foot Custom Spinning Rod donated by Charlie & Don at Weekapaug B&T http://www.weekapaug.com
Year Long (ended Dec 15th):
1) Slipknot - 1087 Loomis Conventional Heavy Canal Jigging stick donated by Saltheart. (as he won the year long which also happened to be biggest Ditch Fish, Slippy had a choice between the 10 Custom Spinner or the Ditch Stick - and guess where he spends most of his time....)
2) Schoolie Monster - Assortment of Plugs donated by Hab's Lures and a few other odds and ends
Again, I want to thank everyone that participated this year. We had a blast (coulda had a few more fish ) and I can't wait to do it again!!!
Happy Holidays to everyone!!!

Congrats to all the winners and thanks to the guys donating the prizes, some nice stuff there for sure. I've got to get going on turning out some new rods for the surf, so I can have a better shot at those goodies next year . I didn't win and only caught one rat in RI, of course I missed the one meet that produced fish, but I had fun at all the events. What about a prize for most brain cells lost at a striped-bass.com gathering? I think I'd win for the slipfest.

Congrats Slipknot. I'm off the week between Christmas and New years. maybe we can get together that week sometime so you can grab your prize.
Its a nice stick and I put lots of hours into the decorative wrap. Hope you like fishing with it. In addition to jigging the canal , I also use mine for livelining herring from riverbanks and bridges.

Well thanks very much! Thanks to all those who donated to the cause to make it possible.
And especially thanks to those who caught bigger fish than mine and didn't turn in a slip to John
Saltheart, I will take extra good care of that rod. I'm sure it's perfect for what I like to do, I can't wait to catch some stripers on it. Maybe it will have the right mojo to get me past 40 pounds next year. Ahhh, I love the ditch.
No hurry Saltheart, but I did read today that Big Dave suggested having a jig pouring seminar this winter and he would be willing to participate. Maybe you and smokey could also. I read it on a thread in the Mass forum on SOL. If Canalratt can organize it, maybe I can volunteer to supply the place again unless someone else has a suggestion. J Powers is intrested too. My wifes uncle is a plumber and he said he has some stuff for me

No prob Slip -
Fishpart - you, me, and the Clamstah will need to make a run down to a couple shops this winter and test out some blanks...
Anthony, we'll be doing it again along the same format but this year we'll do better arranging the dates. I'm also going to be a little more forcefull in picking some spots ...
We'll start planning earlier for 2002. That way all the ducks will be lined up and ready to go... I'll start a new thread on best options and any potential new categories for the tourneys for next year...

Thanks Don and Charlie! Looks like I'll need a new spinning reel! Thanks John for the organization had lots of fun at the 4-legs. Slip sounds like a plan, I have been working on this for a while and keep coming up to dead-ends on it. Still doing more research but almost out of options. Looks like makeing a mold is the only way to go.

- Everytime someone had a decent fish on, Clammer would start chasing everyone around with his clippers to cut the line before the fish could be weighed in. Tough to do avoid him when you're butt deep in a very fast running 5+ knot rip fighting decent fish....

This was an excellent program this year. Attendance was outstanding by the fourth leg and everyone was super good about being generous with food and teaming up and showing spots , etc.
I just got to correct the statement that people only caught fish at one leg. Some fish were caught but they only caught fish over 3 feet at one leg.
Next year I'd like to see us lay out the whole schedule before the beginning of May. That way we can plan better. Same fishing and gathering format though. Those were great barbecues!!

Thanks Red - my wife thinks I'm the Da Man too (sometimes )
Saltheart, I agree. I also highly suggest that we have the Rhody leg BEFORE the Mass leg
Opps - didn't log her out - this is John but I'm on her computer... BTW -Red, I was down by your house today. Took Liam to Little Compton, Sakonet, & Westport ... Tattoo, Is the famous "Flo's" in Prostmouth not far from the bridge?

Only Flo's I know of is in Middletown
**************
Oh yes , there is one in Portsmouth right across from the water. Is it called flo's annex? Just a little place , more take out type one. Not anything as big as the one in Middletown. In fact I think it used to be right on the water side of the street but is now across the street. Its just around the corner from the flea market.

For the 4 Leg where we all met up & fished, 42.5 inches and 45 inches 32#s for the year long... Respectable fish (but not monsters - that'll happen next year )

Flo's is closed for the season. You'll have to go to Middletown to the "other" Flo's. Right across from the Atlantic Beach Club, next to first beach.
