Newell drag problems

I have the 235-5 model. Lately the drag has been jerking on fish. Nothing smooth. Any help or suggestions on how to remedy would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Cool

You can order polished metal washers from smoothdrag.com as well as order replacement xtreme smoothie fiber washers. That's the first thing I do when before I head out with a brand new Newell.

Thanks for the help guys. I ordered the smoothies. While inspecting the reel I noticed rust already in the bearings. Not good. I guess after every few trips I wil take it apart and inspect.
