First off, I would like to welcome everyone to this new board, StriperTalk! Please ask away any questions or post any statements about fishing for Stripers, Blues, Sturgeon, Reds, Weaks (squeeters), or whatever fishing you do. I hope to keep this little corner of the Internet responsible and relatively clean - remember, your children could be coming here as well...

We are coming into an interesting if not scary time when comes to fishing our waters. People and groups with different agendas are coming in to grab a larger share of a dwindling pie. The needs of many groups are vying to get importance over the basic needs of the increasingly smaller pie of our fisheries. We can use this site as a tool to enhance our fishing experience and to enhance the survivability of our marine resources. Some have said that the recovery of the Striped Bass has been a model of fisheries management, to a degree they may be correct. However, recently the possibility of overfishing Striped Bass has been brought back to the forefront of marine fishery discussions. Are we starting to fail all over again? Is too much pressure on the fish? What can be done to improve the resource? Perhaps this “tool” can help. Let’s help to make the recovery of these fish admirable again and push to improve the overall good of all the fisheries. Time is running out.

Now, for the cool part. This site will continue to grow as the word gets around. I have met many people on both the surf and the web that have so much knowledge, integrity, and humor that a forum like this is a fantastic oportunity to share that wealth. We will get to learn tips, tricks, and methods used by other fishermen and women from around the Striper Coast. We can also relearn the good habits we once remembered but have since forgotten. but most of all, let us have some fun...

So, please use this tool to its fullest extent. Toss this site into your Virtual Surfbag, your boat’s goat locker, or your cyber float tube and have some fun. Please feel free to send any recommendations, comments, or criticisms to me, here at Striped-Bass.Com

Thanks,

John Redmond
