Question cheaper alternative to flourocarbon ???

I just finished going thru my 3'rd spool of seaguar flouro. At 17 bucks a pop it's starting to add up and the rocks in the canal can really chew it up. I'd rather be spending the money on plugs.

At this point I am almost exclusively fishing at night so I don't think that visibility is really an issue, so I am not sure I even need to be using the flourocarbon.

Does anybody have a cheaper leader material other than wire that they like and will hold up reasonably well ?? Also I need to be able to break it when I get hung up, so the pound test has to be 40 to maybe 50...

Ande also makes a fluro which is cheaper than Seaguar.
Ande = $27 for 50 yards
Seaguar = $20 for 25 yards

Ande Fluro
Ande also makes 50 yd skeins of mono leader material for $4.50

Its nice to have in the plastic holders as you can bring it along in case you don't have enough leaders tied up in advance.

Use big game 30,40,or 50. Don't believe what anyone says about flouro being better than standard mono, because it isn't. It may give you an advantage in clear, shallow water in the daytime, but the advantages end there.

I use 50 Lb Ande pink or 60 lb Ande green. One big spool lasts about 3 years and costs less than $10.

I'm back to 50# mono. I also do not see a difference at night using the flouro and that's the only time I fish.

No boat, back in the suds.

50# Big Game at night, lifetime supply for $7, well make that longtime supply.

I tried flouro and hated it. Not a question of cost , it just wasn't durable enough for my liking at the Canal. I tried Stren flouro which poeple say was crap but anyway , I like the Ande , tough stuff.

90% of the time i use 50 lb big game. Although i am going to try some of that suffix siege or that back Country stuff... its supposed to be stronger around rocks.

That Orvis Mirage flouro stuff is the best.. I dont like flouro becuase its hard to tie good knots with it due to its stiffness, but on the otherhand, The only reason i would use flouro at night would be for its abrasion ressistance.

clear or camo yo-zuri hybrid. its a mix of regular mono and flouro.this line has amazing abrasion restance and little strech you cannot see this line in the water. it costs about the same as regular mono

todays schoolie is tomorrows keeper,todays keeper is tomorrows cow,practice catch and release!!!.

GOD BLESS THE NRA!!!!
