Down South Fishing Report,

Here is yesterday's report from my Dad's area Outer Bank's, NC. I hope these fish are heading north soon!!!!...........

As some of you have scene by the photos below, we had some of the most exciting striper fishing of the season yesterday. We started the morning fishing in 50ft of water off the light house in huge flocks of gannets and feeding stripers. The stripers were thick and feeding hard in big marks of menhaden. We hooked up immediately and stayed hooked up till we had landed the limit in about 45 minutes. Nice stripers too all between 18lbs and 30lbs. We had landed those trolling so we broke out the 15lb spinners and had a triple on in just a few minutes, with rolling fish all around the boat and for over a 1/4 mile in every direction you really couldn't miss. We had a 30 fish morning and left them biting, Lannie I'm so glad you got'em ,you deserved the good day. The afternoon was simply awesome, huge flocks of gannets, rolling stripers and whales feeding right by the boat as if we were not even there. And the very best part, the closest boat to me was 3 miles south and he was catching them too! The stripers were so thick, you couldn't even get to the birds before you hooked several. At one time we just kinda drifted and watched the action, these whales were swimming with their mouths open right under the boat and you could see swarms of stripers all over their heads and backs, all over the whales in a feeding frenzy. It really makes you feel good to see that our area is so healthy and that the stripers are here in never before scene numbers. We ended the afternoon with 40 some stripers and 2 big blues, all in about 2 hours. Maybe it will be like that tomorrow,I hope. Good luck, Devin

My dad is exploring moving south to either Florida (doubtful) or the Carolinas (likely) on the coast. He's not looking at the Outer Banks, but I think it ain't too far from there.

Hey, if you got to visit the 'rents, may as well be some awesome fishing... while up here, I pray for a day in the 30's so I can sit in my boat in the garage and dream about spring.

Yeah, this winter actually seems to be breezing by pretty quickly. Half way through February already.
Though I won't see any fish up here (Boston) till May.

I'll zip down to Rhody for some early schoolie action. Last year I don't remember much action ever materializing, so I'm hoping this year will be better.
