What do you want in a site?

What kind of info do you want on a fishing site?

What layout of a site, like a News Portal like MSNBC, CNN, PROJO? Or Something simple?

BIG LETTERS? Or Small Text ?

What else?

And please throw up a ling to some of your other favorite sites (excluding Porn ) that you like as I'm looking for some inspiration....

Thanks!

John

Actually I don't have any forum homepages bookmarked as most don't change daily, so don't feel alone, reeltime has one of the better looking homepages "Do they really have 700 people active in Mid Jan." and so does stripersurf.
A link on the forum page to a sponsors page with all the sponsors might be nice.

Talking

how 'bout a section where it tells the best current spot with all the large gathered there, what bait to use, and what part of the tide to fish.

John, I know you hate "spot burning" but a "sticky" or a forum dedicated to "known" spots possibly for members only with "x" numbers of posts (like the books Frank Dagnault and Gene Borque wrote) might be an idea to consider. Many "regulars" come here to do whatever (show off their lures, talk about their "adventures", fishing or otherwise) but many others come here looking for information to make them better "fisherpersons" (is there anything wrong with that ?). There is another board (basicly dedicated to fly fishing) where the fellow goes someplace every week during the season and lets others know where, when... I'm not sure, but that might be something to think about.. just throwing out suggestions.. hmm

John, I think a "Fish Finder"forumormaybe just a post? and how about links to tide and moon charts? and might as well throw in a NOAA link as well. not that I don't think this is the greatest site already, but you asked.

Make it idiot proof, and someone will make a better idiot.

VB - where is that from ?? Can I use it for the fromt page

Article system - working on it

Kayak/Plug Collector Forums, Promised, noted, and in next revision of S-B...

Redefining Reports, a little shaky about that but it can be discussed further...

Moon, tide, NOAA info - working on it

Chat is very insecure, I'm against using Chat for technical reasons... PMs and Posts are pretty good...

I think the less we model oursleves after other sites the better. Chat rooms, collector forum, beach buggy forum, etc... the other sites have those things. If that was all so much better, we would be there instead of here. I like this site as it is unique in many ways. If you want to burn spots, PM me and I'll give you CT's best site for that...

I do like the idea of having an updated article forum/page, though. Perhaps a couple vollunteers could assist in "proofreading" submissions. Anyone that wanted to put the time in to write an article could submit it to the group of critics. If the articles passes the majority approval of the group, it goes onto the article page.

I'm new here, but I'd have to agree with Clammer. It seems every time I learn a new app, or become comfortable navigating around some site, it gets "upgraded" and or "improved" and then I have learn it all over again. Just when I learn the new one and become comfortable with THAT, and I wonder how I ever got along on the old version without the new and improved features, it's time for yet Another upgrade!

Tide charts would be nice. Kind of what Harbortides use to have. Probably a major pain though.

Given the extremely limited number of football games left, I find the tube has less and less to offer... I see the Bass Tour shows, Redfish Tour, FLW, Fly fishing, shark tourneys and on and on. But I always am jonesing for more striped bass fishing on TV. Any way this site, with MSBA maybe, could be a driving force behind selling a TV show focused on striper fishing, both boat and shore? I certainly appreciate the efforts of OTW and the others, but it just ain't enough in quantity nor quality. Lord knows this site has enough knowledge and experience to make a quality case for such a show. (hell if Charlie can do it...) Did I mention Fish Eye???

Flap, BM, Clammer, BF, we just got to sort through the roll call for the host!
